CITB SSSTS Course

The SSSTS course represents the foundational stage of health and safety education for every site supervisor. This programme is designed to build a robust and practical understanding of safety within the construction environment, covering a variety of topics including occupational health and site-specific issues.

Course Content and Curriculum

‍Participants will delve into their legal responsibilities regarding health, safety, welfare, and environmental issues. Under the guidance of an experienced instructor, they will deepen their knowledge and skills, preparing them for a supervisory role on construction sites. The SSSTS course includes:

• The Health and Safety at Work Act.
• Techniques for conducting effective toolbox talks.
• Management of occupational health.
• Understanding and implementing behavioural safety.
• Addressing various daily challenges faced by site supervisors.

The course package includes all necessary materials, registration, and certification issuance.

Course Duration

‍The SSSTS course is conducted over two days.

Teaching and Assessment

‍The course adopts an interactive teaching approach, featuring classroom discussions, case studies, team activities, and individual/group presentations. Some assignments may need to be completed outside the classroom sessions.

Certification

‍Upon successful completion, participants will receive a CITB Site Safety Plus (SSSTS) certificate, which is valid for five years and can be renewed.

Entry Requirements

• Candidates should have a strong command of English in reading, writing, and comprehension.
• They should be currently employed in the construction industry, either in a supervisory role or preparing to step into such a position.
• If a candidate needs to retake the test, it must be done within 90 days of the original course date (additional fees may apply).
• Valid identification, such as a passport or driving licence, must be presented on the first day of the course.
